Gold in the team sprint. On Sunday afternoon the German Track Cycling Championships ended for Robert with 1st place in the team and two 4th places in the individual disciplines.
On the first day of competition Robert Förstemann, Robert Kanter and Eric Engler of Track Team Brandenburg already convinced in the qualification, where they tied for the lead with the current track record in the team sprint. After a clear victory in the final against the Thuringians, Robert was able to put on the jersey of the German champion for the fourth time in a row.
Noteworthy because he won these titles in the different positions and teams. “On the first lap, I ran best time on the Cottbus track, which underlines my positive performance development of the last weeks,” commented Robert.
He also confirmed his rising form in the 200m sprint qualifier on Saturday, finishing 2nd in 10.02 seconds. He was then not satisfied with the two wooden medals in sprint and keirin. “Here I still lack the competition hardness and speed endurance at the moment, due to the approach specialization in recent weeks. Nevertheless, I am looking ahead and looking forward to the tasks in the season that is now beginning.”
