Today began in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines the European Track Championships (October 19-23) and with it the opening of the World Cup season. Robert will compete together with Eric Engler (Cottbus) and elite newcomer Jan May (Erfurt) in the team sprint on Thursday.
He will be the driver to bring the team up to speed. The tournament will be contested in three heats and the boys are looking to have a say in the medal standings. It is difficult to assess the performance of the team, as this formation has not yet competed together. But after the individual performances in training, everyone should be in good shape. “I would like to start the round faster than last winter, where it did not go according to my expectations. That should be possible for me tomorrow and would be a good step forward,” said Robert after today’s preload.
